It is now common knowledge that Philippines is the top source of immigrants for Canada. China and India follow in the second and third spots. Statistics have also shown that throughout the years, the province of Ontario receives the greatest percentage of these new settlers, with Toronto previously being the first choice, making it one of the most ethnically diverse cities not just in Ontario or Canada, but in the entire world. More than 50% of Toronto’s residents are now foreign-born, and unlike the European immigrants of yesteryear, most of them are now Asians.
Over the recent years though, immigrants have slowly populated other suburbs. This interesting and visually clever zoomable map using data from the new National Household Survey, shows a very accurate distribution of Toronto’s 5.7 million inhabitants.
